UN High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development
The high-level political forum on sustainable development will meet from Monday, 9 July, to Wednesday, 18 July 2018 in New York. The Forum is the central platform within the United Nations system for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that was adopted by Heads of State and Governments in September 2015.
During the Forum the UN Global Compact, together with partners The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), convened the SDG Business Forum, a platform for business to interact in dialogue with other stakeholders, share the private sector’s perspectives and showcase the efforts carried out in support of the 2030 agenda and the SDGs.
The UN Global Compact –Cities Programme was represented at the Forum by Director, Michael Nolan and Head of Partnerships, Patricia Holly-Purcell. They were accompanied by some of the partners in the City Partnerships Challenge; the State of Parana including the Governor and the Secretary of the Department of Urban Development; the Grand Paris City Alliance; and the University of Sao Paulo.
The Cities Programme helped launch a ‘Community of Practice’ for the Local 2030 Hubs along with the Office of the Deputy Secretary General, UN Community Development Fund, International Peace Institute and the United Cities Local Government (UCLG).
