Urban Transformation Conference 2018 – Rotterdam

Seeking Transformers

The fourth Urban Transformation Conference (UTC) will be held in Rotterdam on 5 October 2018. The theme is ‘The How of Innovation Districts’. The UN Global Compact – Cities Programme is a partner in the conference.

Almost every city is working on innovation, hubs and innovation districts these days to help the economy move forward. But very few people actually knows exactly how to foster innovation and create districts that are viable, exciting, diverse and inclusive.

The Urban Transformation Conference aims to help city makers, administrators and anyone involved with innovation – and will provide participants with concrete lessons on how innovation districts can be set up. The Cities Programme will be represented at the UTC and will present case studies of Innovation Districts that are established through partnership with leaders from the private sector, government and civil society and deliver positive social and environmental returns to their cities.

Bruce Katz is confirmed as a keynote for the UTC. Katz worked with the world famous the Brookings Institution, where he concentrated on the challenges and opportunities of global urbanization. He was founder of the Metropolitan Policy Program and co-author of The New Localism: How Cities Can Thrive in the Age of Populism and The Metropolitan Revolution: How Cities and Metros are Fixing Our Broken Politics and Fragile Economy. He is a graduate of Brown University and Yale Law School.
