Zulaikha Hussain Shihab
Zulaikha commenced her internship with the Global Compact Cities Programme in October 2013 as part of her Bachelor degree in International Relations at LaTrobe University in Melbourne. She is currently studying a Master of International Development at RMIT University. After completing her internship, Zulaikha continued to work with the Cities Programme as an Administration Officer. In this role, Zulaikha provided invaluable support to the Cities Programme and was responsible for liaising with cities and web communications.
Zulaikha is an international student from the Maldives. She is interested in the areas of climate change, sustainable development and foreign policy. She has supported the development of the new volume of sustainable cities, ‘Cities for the Future’.
Zulaikha has also undertaken an internship with the Public Policy Department at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka and worked as a Research Assistant at the Australian Red Cross. At the Red Cross, Zulaikha worked with developing a training module for the Red Cross Climate Centre on Gender and Climate Change. She also assisted in the development of a guidance note on Gender and Climate Change.
