Michael Young

Michael Young is an international development practitioner with 20 years experience working in over 40 countries with multi and bi-lateral donors; private and public sectors; and humanitarian agencies and NGOs. Contracted as a Team Leader, Program Manager and adviser, Michael has extensive experience in managing large and dispersed teams of multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural staff in post conflict and fragile states. Michael is a governance specialist, proficient in decentralisation, inter-governmental relations, public service delivery, public financial management and integration of sustainability issues into government policies and programs. Michael’s research interests include the politics of development, implementing decentralisation, local leadership, political settlements and political analysis.
