Professor Josef Konvitz joined the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 1992 after spending nearly 20 years at the History Faculty of Michigan State University. He led the OECD’s work on urban policy from 1992 to 2003. As Head of Regulatory Policy from 2003 until his retirement in 2011, Professor Konvitz designed and implemented a strategic program to strengthen quality and regulatory reform. He directed OECD reviews of Russia, China, Australia, France, Sweden, and Switzerland, and the monitoring exercises of Japan, Mexico and Korea. He led an OECD programme of co-operation with Mexico for regulatory reform, and country-specific activities in Greece, Vietnam, Tunisia and the Palestine Authority.
