Dr Hebe Verrest directs the Research Masters of Urban Studies program for the Department of Geography, Planning and International Development Studies at the University of Amsterdam. As a human geographer, her work focuses on urban development in the Global South, emphasising issues of vulnerability, inequality and exclusion. She has expertise on small and medium-sized cities in the Caribbean, with reference to climate-change adaptation, urban governance, spatial planning and livelihoods. She was previously a Policy Advisor to the Dutch Habitat Platform at The Hague, supporting the implementation of the UN-Habitat Agenda in Dutch urban policies, and a researcher at the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies.

Hebe is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
