Participatory Slum Upgrading Programme: future collaborations

Michael Nolan, Elizabeth Ryan, Melissa Permezel and Ralph HorneCities Programme Director Ralph Horne, Chair Michael Nolan and Deputy Director Elizabeth Ryan recently met with the UN-Habitat’s Programme and Tool Development Advisor for the Participatory Slum Upgrading Programme (PSUP), Melissa Permezel.

PSUP is a partnership between UN-Habitat, the European Commission and the Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States. It currently operates in 35 countries across Africa, the Pacific and Caribbean from UN-Habitat offices in Nairobi. With its emphasis on community participation, city-wide upgrades, strengthening governance frameworks and social inclusion, PSUP’s goals and vision are closely aligned with those of the Global Compact.

In last month’s meeting Ms Permezel and the Cities Programme team discussed this alignment and opportunities to collaborate. We look forward to working with PSUP.
