Prakash Kamtam is a PhD scholar (Sustainability in Smart city models) with more than two decades of experience in urban governance, urban planning and smart city development in India. He is a former civil services professional having worked at pan- India level with rapidly growing, challenging and mammoth public administrative systems. His previous job was with UNDP –India, working as national head for skills development project of Government of India. He also worked as Team leader for DFID funded technical support unit, on policy advocacy and support functions aimed at sustainable regional development. Has experience of working with two Centre’s of Excellence in Public administration in India– as General Manager @ National Institute for Smart Government and Deputy CEO @ Centre for Good Governance. He has deep expertise in managing innovative and large Government reform, policy innovation, process re-engineering, performance improvement & e-Governance projects. He also has substantial contribution and achievements in institution building and capacity development –designing and delivering leadership training and change management programs for public officials in India and Afghanistan, including direction of online programs at International Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD, Colorado State University-USA) for diverse international development professionals
He is currently engaged as Independent consultant and advisor supporting national mission mode projects at-Smart Cities India Foundation, Nettur Technical Training Foundation, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Centre for Organisation Development, Indian Embassy -Dubai. He is co-founder of a social enterprise in Singapore; focusing on training and capacity building of public officials aiming at public service excellence and global sustainable development. His current research interest is on enhancing sustainability in smart city development models.
