Patricia Holly Purcell

Patricia Holly Purcell is the Head of Partnerships for the UN Global Compact – Cities Programme. Patricia brings more than 15 years experience in the public and private sectors leading global commercial sustainability initiatives for multi-national corporations and the United Nations.
Prior to joining the United Nations Global Compact in April 2018, Patricia served as the Senior Adviser at UN-Habitat based in their Nairobi headquarters, where she led the Agency’s strategic policy and programmatic initiatives, including the creation of a new global multi-lateral fund for sustainable urbanisation, in conjunction with the World Bank, the United Nations Global Compact and other United Nations partners.
Patricia previously served as the Technical and Strategic Adviser of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, based in Geneva, where she led the agency’s Making Cities Resilient Campaign strategy. Prior to joining the UN, Patricia was the Director of Commercial Sustainability for London-based Willis Group, a global insurance broker. Patricia began her career as a financial and business journalist with a focus on climate change and energy, writing for The Times, The Financial Times, and The Economist. Patricia is originally from New York City, and divides her time between her adopted homes in the UK and Spain.
